Amazon Store offers instant streaming on the Kindle Fire, as well as PC, Mac, Roku, and hundreds of TVs and Blu-ray players. All of your videos are stored in Your Video Library, so you can access them anywhere you go. Good news is that Amazon Instant Video is now playing on your iPad. Videos you’ve purchased or rented are already available on your iPad. However, you can not transfer Amazon Videos to iTunes for synchronizing with more iOS devices like iPhone, iPod, Apple TV etc. The problem is that video files purchased from Amazon Instant Video are usually DRM-protected WMV (Windows Media Video) files. With 1080P hitting the new iPad 3 and Apple TV 3 two months ago, some of you are perhaps now looking to send your 3D Blu-ray collection over to iOS devices. Recently I have successfully ripped lots of 3D Blu-rays on the Mac and stream them to my new iPad 3 and Apple TV 3 via iTunes and while the process is more easier than you may think. In order to help those who wanna experience 3D Blu-ray movies with Apple TV 3 and new iPad 3 at 1080p Full HD quality, so I throw this quick tutorial up.

First, the most important piece of the equation is that you have a Blu-Ray drive hooked to your Mac. We all knew that the late and great Steve Jobs viewed Blu-ray as a “bag of hurt” from the “mafia”. So I don’t anticipate Apple including them even as a BTO option any time soon, so your best bet is to go external. The next experiment is to see if we could take a 3D Blu-ray movie disc and rip it to the Mac and transcode it into a format that could be played on the new iPad 3 and Apple TV 3 at the original 1920×1080 (full hd 1080p) resolution. TiVo is a digital video recorder (DVR) developed and marketed by TiVo, Inc. That way we could record what we was already paying for and watch shows when we had the time to watch them. Yeah Tivo has a monthly fee but it’s the principle of the thing! Besides, a new toy is cool and fun to play with. The biggest problem with Tivo was working out how to get the shows from the Tivo box to Apple TV 3 where I could watch them the way I wanted to.

The standard application for moving recordings from the Tivo box to the Mac is Roxio Toast. It’s what Tivo recommends and it’s what Hollywood has blessed. The problem with Toast is that DRM Tivo attaches to all recorded shows doesn’t allow any editing or transcoding of your recorded Tivo file. That’s when I started looking around for another way. I just got my first MAC and am trying to create my Media Library for iTunes on a WD MyBook Live network drive. My goal is to input all my Blu-rays into this unit for all devices to access.
